Sugarcoat was born from a simple idea, that getting a tan should be private, easy and completely on your terms. Here is how two busy Adelaide women turned that into Unley's 24/7 contactless tanning studio.
Two friends, one simple idea
Sugarcoat was founded by two good friends, Jaimee and Claudia, both busy professional women with families of their own. Between work and kids, finding time for something as simple as a spray tan before an event felt almost impossible, never quite fitting around the school run, the late meetings and everything in between.
As they talked to friends, they kept hearing the same thing. Plenty of people loved the idea of a spray tan but felt embarrassed or self conscious about being sprayed by someone in person. The luxury of a great tan came with a side of awkwardness that put a lot of people off entirely.
So they imagined something different. A place you could go any hour of the day or night, let yourself in, and tan in complete privacy, with no one watching and no one to feel shy in front of. A place where you could simply be yourself, feel confident, and walk out glowing.
They invested in cutting edge 24/7 contactless automatic premium booths and opened the doors in Unley. Today, Sugarcoat is enjoyed by men and women right across Adelaide, glowing for weddings, events, date nights and everything in between. You name the occasion, people are tanning for it.
